Stolen Generations

„Stolen Generations“ call all the young Aboriginal people, who were stolen by the Australian government between 1907 and 1969. From the stolen children are the most half-caste children, one parent white, one Aborigine. The children are stolen because the government want to assimilate them with the white people. Assimilate means the “connecting” of ethic groups. In the most Australian federations were “Aboriginal Protection Acts” enacted, which establish the base for the removal of the children.

After this were some children removed from their families, tearing out from the arms from their mother. The government said, that the children were ill-handled from their parents, but the children weren't it. They gave them in homes and to adoption for white families, to gave them a life in the white society. In 1997 were the National Sorry Day instituted. In 2007 it gives a first judgment, and Bruce Trevorrow get a compensation from 525000 Australian Dollars. At the 13^th February 2008 said the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in a speech sorry to the Aborigines.
